History of Broomdown Stud
Broomdown Stud was founded in 1989 with the purchase of Loconiaz a thoroughbred brood mare by Spartan General. (Spartan General was the sire of Spartan Missile who was 2nd in the Grand National in 1981 and many good hunter chasers, point to pointers and eventers)
Loconiaz was the dam of Spartan Monarch by Just a Monarch the great event sire who produced Master Monarch, Just an Ace, Midnight Monarch and Kings Jester.
Spartan Monarch stood at stud for 16 years and produced many successfull show jumpers, eventers, dressage and show horses. He has also proved to be a very good broodmare sire.
We sadly lost Spartan Monarch in February 2011 but have retained one of his very promising entire sons to carry on our breeding program.
We also breed Trakehners, show and competion ponies
